May 2019 Forecasts and Discussions

Post by stuffradio »

Will this be the start of a dry month trend into the Summer/Fall? Let's see! Hopefully, the smoke isn't as bad as last year though.

Same here, but I doubt it.

On another note, I've seen 2 fires this week started in the median of the road and at a mall from discarded cigarettes. One involved the fire dept. showing up. Smokers are pathetic trash.

Just heard about this today. Totally shocking. Absolutely horrible. I loved reading and listening to his stuff. He was really good at what he did. This is so sad.

Models are beginning to lock in on a monster ridge building in during the middle of next week. Could lock into a Rex block pattern. Wouldn’t surprise me if we stayed dry or nearly dry thru mid May.

That would pretty much guarantee a cool/wet June. Warm/dry May and June combos are pretty rare; 2015 being a notable recent exception.

Maybe. Can’t think of any warm ENSO/ cool June’s this century though.

What about last year? Was June wet over there? It was slightly warm and drier than normal over here.

June was pretty seasonal if I remember correctly. Some rain some sun. It was a beautiful stretch right up until that string of heatwaves starting around July 8 or so.

Precip here has been just 54% of normal over the last 3 months. Next weeks warm spell could take out what is left of the snowpack, appears to be less than 50% on the southern island now.

Could see some offshore flow develop next week with a warm airmass overhead. First shot of upper 20s looks possible.

The 00Z NCEP model run on the EPS Gram shows potential for almost 25C around the 13th in Vancouver. Score!
