Exciting day up here, it actually rained here this morning, had about 1" in some buckets but it cleared up early morning and reverted to cloudy with sunny periods. The campfire ban was averted and there were several power outages, a power pole on fire (transformer) and trees or branches down on the wires.

Forecast is for 'a few showers' and 'chance of showers' which so far has meant no rain. Anyone have a different take on it?

Abby_wx wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 11:11 pm Yeah, I could certainly see why they issued a "watch", as there were thunderstorms in the area... I just didn't understand why they upgraded it to warning. I did check the radar a few times, and it was pretty clear even to a layman that those storms were dying off as they moved westward. I had pretty much stopped paying attention before I saw that a warning had been issued.

I get email alerts whenever watches/warnings are issued, which is a great way to keep track of the ones I miss. The warning was issued at 7:51 pm and ended at 8:16 pm, so it didn't last long. I hadn't been paying attention, so I was surprised to see that a warning had actually been issued.
It was issued for Chilliwack before 6p.m. the potential was there but as usual died rapidly we did have afew rumbles and cloud to ground strikes in the Chilliwack river valley.

Glad you had some much needed rain and the fire up your way didn't expand.

I counted 4 severe thunderstorm warnings up for the interior mountain passes a little overdone I'd say.
