The 06z GFS still looks toasty in the long-range. I wonder if this will be similar to last fall: cool, troughy September with a predominantly ridge, sunny October.

I think that's quite common to get a couple weeks of cooler wetter weather sometime in September (in some years late August) than a return to ridging sometime between mid September and early-mid October. It's really not until late October where the fall pattern gets on full swing most years. I remember the late 80s and early 90s (and again in 98 and 02) this pattern was much more predominant. You could count on 3- 4 weeks of mainly dry weather at some point from Sept 1st to Halloween. Not a sure thing anymore for some reason but last year was a 15 day dry spell in October and 2013 was a 18 day dry spell. Nothing compared to the late 80s, early 90s where 3 or 4 week dry spells occurred in Sept and October quite regularly.

Happy September! At least we are not getting the early Sept snows in the mountains to kill this years winter . I'm excited to see what we get this winter for snows

A frick-ton of rain the Cariboo this week. Williams Lake had more than a month worth of rain in the past 4 days. Puntzi Mountain out west of there had 33.3 mm in just one day, which is more than a month's worth, and is in fact the 3rd wettest day on record.

Yeah it's absolutely poring out here in the central Fraser valley with 14.2mm so far in the bucket since the rain started late this afternoon and a rain rate of 6.0mm an hour not too shabby. And then I looked at Abby senior to see he's had 18.8mm so far.

Bear Creek this afternoon. Any chance of getting a daily record at YVR today? 30.2mm in 2010 is the mark to beat.
