Speaking of the Greens...apparently they have a real chance to win in the PEI provvies this fall.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 1:45 pm I think John is dead serious, he mentioned the green party on the main thread as well.
It's really too bad Harper wasn't left at the helm , Trudeau clearly wasn't ready, he continues to have nice hair though.

Re: Politics
There's the John we all remember.
On the other hand, I've heard some speculate that the Greens are actually a conservative-leaning party despite their love for the environment.
I think part of that perception might come from the lack of detail in their platform. While the NDP has a very clear left-wing platform concerning issues such as social justice and worker's rights, the Green Party's platform is more general and lacking in specifics on such issues. Their main plank is the environment; they don't have much to say about anything else, so you can basically draw your own conclusions about where they stand on other issues.
This is just theoretical, but I think that if the Greens ever became government, they would likely impose environmental regulations on business that would put them to the left of the NDP.

Johnny, Harper was getting stale, I feel Andrew is bringing a new shot in the arm to the Conservatives.

Re: Politics
I probably haven't been paying close enough attention, but I'm unsure what Mr. Scheer is offering that sets him apart from Mr. Harper. I've even heard him referred to as Harper-lite or Harper Jr., though I'm unsure if that's a reference to his looks/personality, or his politics.Sardisbcwx wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:20 pm Johnny, Harper was getting stale, I feel Andrew is bringing a new shot in the arm to the Conservatives.
He'd need to be marked departure from Stephen Harper for me to considering voting Conservative. On the other hand, the competition isn't very inspiring either.

Add in Maxime Bernier to the mix, and the Conservatives will be looking at a fractured vote on the right similar to what we saw in the 90s with the PC's and Reform.

With the up coming fed. election I should be paying more attention and I shouldn't be basing my thoughts on what my co workers are saying about Scheer compared to Trudeaudope.Abby_wx wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 7:01 pm I probably haven't been paying close enough attention, but I'm unsure what Mr. Scheer is offering that sets him apart from Mr. Harper. Re: Politics
Andrew Scheer wants to repeal and redo Canada's gun laws. One of the conservative members on his team wants to reclassify the AR-15 as a hunting rifle and remove the ammunition restrictions. Do these politicians really want to turn Canada into the US?

those politicians and their supporters seem to want it yes; I can only assume it's a mass case of cognitive dissonance

Re: Politics
I realize Canada has a different culture than the US, but at the same time, I do firmly believe in common sense gun control and I don't think we need AR-15's easily accessible to the average civilian not to mention without any common sense regulations. That said, I am not in favour of a lot of what Trudeau has done either. Suffice to say, I can't say I'm a Liberal or a Conservative because both parties have stuff I agree and disagree with. You can't have the best of both worlds unfortunately. I really have no idea who to vote for in the upcoming election. I shall wait for the campaigns to begin and examine all sides.moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 7:17 am those politicians and their supporters seem to want it yes; I can only assume it's a mass case of cognitive dissonance
