My mom says it's really smokey at her place as the fire has flared up again. All of her neighbours closer to the fire were evacuated, but some have gone back to "alert" status. Fire is burning right up the alpine on both sides of the valley. High winds last night pushed it further up than this map shows. Fire outlined in red. They're trying to cut it off at Bluff lake where Sapeye Bluff to the north and Butler Mountain to the south go almost straight up to alpine from the lake. If it jumps past there, my mom and brother are prepared. They have a water truck planted at their houses ready to douse things down. Trees are cut down. Dead grass removed. Rain would be nice.

Anyone hoping for a repeat of 2015-16? :blowtor:
+12 on Boxing Day last year, that’s close enough, no repeat needed so soon.

Rain is coming. Actually it might be snow on the mountainside where that fire is. That will be an interesting thing. Snow on a wildfire.

I see, there is an article in the Washington Post of all places of "atmospheric river" and a "bomb cyclone" (the media's favourite terms du jour) that is expected to hit the Pacific Northwest in the coming days like its something that is unexpected😆. In other weather news it will be sunny in Arizona.
