Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Meanwhile I see a 62F reading just outside of Lynden. That's a smidge under +17.
Lots of +15 readings now. Could still warm a degree or two in the next hour.
Take that Storm!!!!

Big spread.

Windchill is not real temperature.stuffradio wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:43 pm We had windchill values in the -10 to -15C range in the valley in Jan 2012, so is it really that outlandish?
Windchill of -10 to -15 (without unit) is not -23C.
I don't believe at all in this forecast.
If we had -10C to -15C it would already be exceptional!

Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Thanks Rubus..i meant Daily records..not all time record. I know how cold it "used" to be wayyy back in some epic years.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:44 pm This is not even “the old days;†this is unprecedented. Look at the forecast low for Hope: -22ËšF. Wikipedia says the coldest temperature observed in Hope was -13ËšF in January (doubtless 1950). (And yes, that map is in ËšF, not ËšC.) Tying January 1950 is a slim enough chance (so slim as to be effectively zero in any given year). Blowing Jan 1950 out of the water, by 9ËšF margin? Not. Gonna. Happen.

No wind here yet. Could be the reason I’m assuming?

Who cares about Linden, at the end of the day it matters what YVR will report.

Saw this on a website for Abbotsford Wx.• In January 2012, an arctic air mass caused temperatures to drop to levels not seen since the mid 1990's. The maximum temperature on January 18th only climbed to -9.0°C, the coldest daytime high of any day since Dec 28th, 1996. The same day, the minimum temperature fell to -14.8°C, the coldest minimum temperature of any day since Jan 7th, 1993. Wind chill temperatures fell as low as -24°C during the morning hours. Apart from these extremes, the cold snap was otherwise unremarkable, short-lived, and snowfall was moderate compared to other notable events such as the December 2008 cold snap.

Never said YVR. Abbotsford is the city that matters.
Edit: It's Lynden, not Linden. You just disrespected the members from there.
