A forecast for that sort of cold is much more believable. The sort of cold that the GFS is forecasting, not so much.

It's called clown range for a reason.

LOL @ the +17 argument. Nito never said it would be +17 at YVR, he said it could get to +17 somewhere in the LM. He's not far off but not quite there yet either. I think we were all a little bit wrong and the weather just do be like that sometimes.
2025-26 season stats:
Climo :cancel: ∞ to 0.5 :14clown: GFS

Season total: 0.5 cm and TWO traces!

All-time low is -21.1C in Abbotsford.

If we had -15C (and -10C in YVR) it would be a (very) good one. ;)

In 86 or 87 my dad claims we dropped to below -10, like -15 to -20 or something. That wasn't for a specific month, just some time that year. He took an interest in recording temperatures back then and reporting it I think, but I don't think he has anything written down still. I'd have to research if it's available anywhere.

It's the nearby mountains. They're getting in the way of the southerlies being able to blow the cooler air away. Instead, it's banking up against them.

I know...

We should open up this site to weather related gambling. That would make things very interesting.
