Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
That's crazy. It also got really cold in Dec 2008, but I think it was only -15 with the wind chill. I remember trying to walk down the road with my then dog and only made it about 5-10 minutes before wanting to turn around because it was too cold.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 4:01 pm -15.1C in Feb. 1986 in Abbotsford.

Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
YVR averages nearly two days per year with temps below -10C. Pretty standard stuffCanada Goose wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:57 pm All-time low is -21.1C in Abbotsford.
If we had -15C (and -10C in YVR) it would be a (very) good one.![]()

Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
I believe i saw -17/-18 back in the 80's in MRidge East, during a long cold and snowy period.stuffradio wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 3:57 pm In 86 or 87 my dad claims we dropped to below -10, like -15 to -20 or something. That wasn't for a specific month, just some time that year. He took an interest in recording temperatures back then and reporting it I think, but I don't think he has anything written down still. I'd have to research if it's available anywhere.
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++

Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Timing has definitely moved up on the GFS. Snow within 6.5 days now.
While this is nice to see, I suspect it will get pushed back a tad (day 8-10) with tonights run as the euro and gem are still not on board with snow starting Thursday night.
