What's up with this El Neeters :? I think l've read or seen like 10 different predictions for this winter.
Perhaps l'll hedge my bet on Jr. man's theory.

Thanks T3.
Looks like warmer than normal start to october. Just waiting for some nice cold troffs to drop down and watch those snow levels plummet and the mountain peaks get white
MAYDAY MAYDAY! We need some warm sunny weather this month. Some showers mixed in would be good too

A warm, dry spell then back to rain with temperatures near climo norms. Beyond that, I am not taking any model seriously. Too deep into clown range. By Monday, the models might all be saying something different about the latter half of next week and beyond.
It's called clown range for a reason.

1972-73 analogue?

Big cold snap in early December that winter from a similar setup. Backdoorish and fairly dry but still pretty potent and cold and long enough to freeze over the local lakes.

That 72/73 winter l can remember my parents watching the Grey cup game for some strange reason the game was the first Sunday in December usually it's the last Sunday in November L remember it was absolutely clear blue skies in Vancouver and cold that day we were living at west 16th Ave and Vine.
Where ever the game was being played l think Hamilton it was also sunny. l think the Riders were in it this is going off my super remarkable memory skills Tbrain. :D :wtf:

My gut says yes, with it being an El Niño year, we will finish the winter warmer than normal. However, with the PDO and QBO both trending negative (at least right now), we will have periods of active weather and end up wetter than normal. I don’t think we’ll see the typical split flow hell. I’ll probably be wrong though.

Surprisingly Taccurate l looked up the Dec/72 Grey cup game and indeed it was held Dec 3rd the first time ever in December and it was played in Hamilton it was cold there as well.
I'm thinking it was a coast to coast outbreak l didn't check YVR or YXX for Dec 3rd/72 l just remember it was clear the day the game was played it was low scoring 13-10 for Hamilton over the Riders the only other time the Grey cup was played in Dec was Dec 2021 due to a later played shortened season after Covid.
We reached a summer like high of 26c on Friday in the central valley.
Edit:
According to YXX Dec /72 stats it was indeed day 1 out the outbreak it lasted until Dec 13th l didn't check snowfall during the event or coming out of the event l recall clear and cold during the whole event.
