It has been one heck of a snowy winter in Whitehorse! Not since the great snow year of 1972 has there been this much snow on the ground in the Yukon capital...

seems to be in line with a cold/snowy western Canada /LaNina. It just never made it to the outer coastal areas. Similkameen has had a lot of snow this year too..not far away really > Just over the Coast mountains. O well

I would say there has been about 200-250cms fall this year...possibly more
Of course it could easily be 18c and bommy during this strong EN, but instead March starts out troffy and chilly!  Bring on some 18c sunny days
Willoughby Langley at ~320ft / Similkameeeens ~3400ft

Anchorage, AK also has a lot more snow than normal on the ground... even though this winter has had LESS snow than normal and warmer than normal. The reason for the high snowpack in the north, including Whitehorse, is that there has been no Chinooks to speak of. Normally, they get warm winds that pack down and melt the snow.

P.S. Updated Whitehorse graph...

Kamloops graph is a lot more boring. (Yes, I will do some Lower Mainland spots next).

Ah, yes, I remember that snowfall in November 1990. My dad tried to drive us to school, and it took us 3 hours to drive the normally 20 minute drive because of how fast the snow came down, and we kept getting stuck. We had to grab a hotel room when we got into town because there was no way we were getting home. Also, school was cancelled. I think my dad just wanted to see if we could drive in this massive snowstorm. haha.

Lots of missing data hear, but you can see the epic snowfall...

Here are two stations within 50 km of Tatlayoko.... one of the rare interior spots where 1971/72 wasn't the snowiest on record.

Here is Penticton. Like most places in the BC (and Yukon) interior, 1971/72 towers above all others for snowpack...

Here is an amazing statistic for you:

Which city has NEVER had 40cm of snow on the ground?
A) Victoria
B) Abbotsford
C) Penticton
D) Calgary

Look at this graph and the ones above to see your answer.
