Strange. Also W. P. Made an surprise appearance last night which is neat. Lots of surprises in store for the next 3 weeks I think!

If this was offered to you a week ago, you would take it and run.

-9 for an ensemble mean at that range is about as cold as you’re going to see. Things are just too muted at that range.

There is a cluster of them below -12 and some below -15. But those are offset by the cluster of warm members above -5. It’s pretty much always what we see in the ensembles that far out. I can’t think of too many times we’ve seen the ensemble mean drop below -10 at more than 10 days range.

Not sure how it's "meh". It's going to get colder but probably not epic cold. We don't need 1950 cold, just below 0C and any moisture will hopefully turn into snow. Snow is the end game for most here!

It will come early Feb. Any sign of blocking, even unfavorable blocking the next 2 weeks is a good sign for those wanting cold and snow.

Exactly. All I want is snow at -1 or -2C for a few days. If we get epic cold here, it always turns out that those guys down south getting feet of snow but we are just sitting here with frozen toes.

There was a lot of energy digging offshore after day 10, that’s a tough pattern to sustain if you want the cold to stick around.

12z is sharper with the trough late next week. Almost inside the believable range, so good to see improvement there.
