Epic rain storms yesterday in the Kootenays. 1 in 20 year rain storm events, with 45 mm being dumped around Invermere. Lots of other places like Grand Forks got nailed pretty good too, receiving over an inch of rain (25.4mm).

The long range models are looking like June 2015 aka Drought so we really need this forecasted rain event this week. Hopefully areas like YVR get a good soaking too and there isn't a rain shadow for those areas. My take on why it's been so dry at YVR for the last 2 springs is the flow direction. NW flow was prevalent and that usually means cool dry. When we did get a wet system (rarely) its been more of a SW flow which means often an Olympic mountains rain shadow for the areas around western metro Vancouver. We haven't had alot of straight westerly flows.

No Juneuary this year. At least not until later in the month if at all.

If June is looking like 2015, wasn't winter 15/16 a disaster if we use June as an anologue to the upcoming winter.?
