Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Alright here it is... we now have 40C showing up on Sunday for Abbotsford on the RGEM. Its mind-bloggling. That would break the record of 38C that was recorded on July 29th 2009. Now 38C is hot but one wouldn't be as shocked to see that record broken in July or August. But to see 40C in June? Nobody would ever expect there would be a credible chance of us breaking a July heat record in June. Absolutely historical.

Port Alberni and Bella Coola have been 41° before, so why can't Abbotsford?

Not so sure about 40ËšC but I do really think YXX is likely to reach at least 38ËšC during this event.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:59 pm Alright here it is... we now have 40C showing up on Sunday for Abbotsford on the RGEM. If I'm reading this right it is showing Ashcroft to be 48°!

Just bewildering.
And, it probably won't verify, but to even have it modeled inside of 4 days is just out of this world.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Definitely no snow this weekend. Maybe some dust mixed with tumbleweed with maybe a trace expected by Tuesday.
The real event looks to be 2 weeks away where we could see blowing ash with reduced visibility.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Speaking of ash, I’m certainly expecting a big smoke-fest later this summer. Have an a/c on order (which unfortunately won’t be here for the coming event, but I got it mainly for the smoke; hot and polluted is far nastier than just plain hot).wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 10:18 pm The real event looks to be 2 weeks away where we could see blowing ash with reduced visibility.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
School's still not cancelled on Monday. These people are going to harm a child or teacher if they don't correct this. Apparently Abbotsford SB is "talking about it".

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
My oldest starts kindergarten this September. I wouldn't be sending her to school in this....
(Assuming there is no A/C)

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Bizarre. Seems like a simple decision to me. Close schools and start summer vacation a couple days early. Why are those last couple days so important? Lockers can be cleaned out tomorrow (Friday) if they haven't been already.
