Yeah I noticed that too. Not sure if it's just low level forest fire smoke or if there was a fire last night.

Have to admit I'd get a giggle if it correlated

Can't remember if I heard it from Customs or the former CP turned into AC folks but it was brought up whenever there was a fog delay

First pic is Saskatchewan Landing near Swift Current, second pic is near the Alberta/Saskatchewan border on highway 1 and the third pic is at a viewpoint in the Cypress Hills.

Low annual precip across southern prairies... similar to the Thompson-Okanagan region with plenty of sagebrush and tall brown grass in non-irrigated areas along with a general dearth of trees.

Air quality is going to get so bad for interior folks. And a little bad here. Hopefully those troughs produce..

It's looking pretty bad on the webcams from Merritt east to Banff. I sure hope we get the rain, which is a weird thing to hope for when you are going camping starting on Monday. Plans are Merritt, Revelstoke, Banff, Castlegar, Kelowna. Smoke hotpots and now covid as well! I wish my kids are vaccinated at this point. I am hoping for approvals for that soon. I am hopeful that the change in the weather will really drop down the smoke levels when I am there. I don't mind the cooler weather. Though I may have to plan for really cool weather when we are in Banff! Hopefully campfires are allowed.

It does indeed!

Threading the needle a bit though, it wouldn't take much for that to go east. Hopefully not.

12Z GFS now keeps us dry on the coast until next Thursday, but then has a nice soaking rain. The interior does well through the week though.
