This is a very mild location to represent Salmon Arm because it's right near the lake, and is constantly being hit with the breeze off the water. It's like how YVR isn't exactly a good representation of Metro Vancouver.

Moving along, it's interesting that Ballenas Island doesn't exist if you look at Google satellite view, but view in regular map view and it does.

This is the best I can guess as far as where the instruments are...

EDIT:

Yup, confirmed with a different angle...

Your picture doesn't show the instruments very well. Here are some better ones... (terrible thermometer location!)

BTW, Boat Bluff is the wettest place in Canada today. In the past wetter locations had stations (namely Henderson Lake on the Island), and certainly other places have claimed to be "the wettest inhabited place in Canada" (I'm thinking of Ocean Falls).

EDIT: Are they using a Davis weather station?

Maybe Zeballos Muraude Creek is close.

Yep, they seem using a VP2.

Hmm. My VP2 usually seems to under report rainfall. Especially if it is raining heavily. I have had 2 different rain gauges in it over the years

Absolutely. When I had mine, I reported rainfall with a manual professional rain gauge (Meteo France).

Mine too. I'm thinking that the Davis is only there to register when it's raining? They only record the manual totals online.

Merry Island has been a very good reliable weather station over the years. Perhaps the warmest place in Canada among reliable stations.
