Best time of year for it, IMO.

So, WxBell put out a preliminary winter forecast too. Its very east based, but I’ll post it here for entertainment value. I had to take screenshots, so bare with the redundancy in certain frames.

JB with his standard Cold east and warm west forecast. Every year it’s just varying degrees of this same theme.

Precisely. I usually ignore his rhetoric on the “premium” part of the site.

I don't put much stock into the seasonal above/below average maps. A winter may end up above normal in terms of temperatures, yet we could still see a major arctic blast. Likewise, a winter could end up below normal and we fail to see any noteworthy arctic intrusions.

There is no reason to think we can not get at least one or two cold and snow blasts during a winter of above normal temperatures.

Not a huge fan of 2m temperature anomaly maps in general, but the Euro seasonal is decent for this winter.

Northwest

In the Northwest, wintry weather will be more scarce than usual.

Strong high pressure over the region is likely to lead to drier conditions and above-normal temperatures.

“I can see some places this winter in the Northwest being about 20 to 40 percent lower on the snowfall compared to average,” he said.

The deficit is likely to hinder the region’s ski season and will continue to affect the weather into springtime.

“For those who rely on hydropower: If water levels are down, it could have an effect on cost.”

Mid winter "arctic cold" in the great lakes and Midwest. Really putting their reputations on the line by saying that
