I don't think the election had any measurable impact on transmission. I don't see how going to a polling station is any more risky than shopping, which probably more people do in typical week than the number who showed up at the polls.

Ya, I felt very safe at the polling station. It wasn’t as busy as in past elections with the increased number of people going the mail in route.

They made you sanitize before entering, sanitize when finished, masks, plexi, etc. Felt much safer than walking into the grocery store or Costco.

No they were not. Most people had no mask on when I voted. All the workers had them on, but the people standing in line to vote did not for the most part. Voting was the closest I've been to strangers without a mask in months. There was quite the jump in cases right after the election. Maybe it was just correlation and not causation.

I'm pretty sure most areas were seeing similar jumps around the same time. About half were wearing masks when I voted, but capacity limits and social distance were being strictly enforced. I didn't feel the least bit unsafe.

The most scary place I've been to is the mall. It was crazy how many people were completely ignoring social distancing. Masks seem to make people feel invincible.

Other than the polling station, the safest public place I've been to is the movie theaters when they were open. Very few people, good sanitation, and plenty of space to social distance. Unfortunately, the government decided theaters were unsafe but bars and malls are a-okay. :?

What I'd like to know is, if two masks work better than one, why are they not built that way in the first place?

Sir, I put it to you that you are vocalising from your posterior, if that is what you truly think. Moreover, if you derive personal entertainment from our outrage, you are a greater disturber of the stool than the Biblical denizens of Sodom.

Yes. Capitalist governments have a long history of shutting/slowing down their constituents economies without reason.
If ever in doubt about current events, its usually a globe-spanning conspiracy that involves millions of people without a single credible whistleblower. Because anything other than that is of course, fake news.

Seeing people when you're out is a bit different than "getting together". Unless those people are coworkers, you're probably not in close contact for very long.

Some of us actually have been following the recommendations, or at least doing our best to, as hard as that might seem for some to believe.

I ran into a friend at Home Depot last month and we chatted for 15 minutes. I visited with another friend at a park for an hour on Tuesday. But I haven't seen anyone else outside of my household since before Christmas, apart from coworkers. Since I mostly work alone, I don't even see my coworkers that much.

Getting together with 10 people is a pretty big change from what we've been doing. It is outdoors only thankfully, so the risk is much lower than it would be indoors. Remember how little COVID there was last summer because people were mainly gathering outdoors. As soon as the weather changed and people started gathering indoors, infections ramped up.
