Lower Mainland and B.C. Events

Post by SouthSardiswx »

I use to swim in this pool back in the summers of 69/70 back then it was aging.
I remember they use to empty it once a week for cleaning we would play in the pool and the concrete pale boxes that were for draining and filling it up.
Awesome memories and the free shows at the Kitsilano show boat in the evenings.

I think an in-person get together of at least some of the regulars here would be fun.

Maybe outdoors in a park (or at a beach) in July or August?
It's called clown range for a reason.

It's not just Metro Vancouver Houndhead, growing up in the lower mainland many communities had events during the summer and throughout B.C. now everything is so watered down or canceled its absolutely depressing.

Sounds awesome Gumps or in our case bring your walker and rocking chair.
Perhaps as an alternative get wasted and go for an evening stroll on the train tracks. :drunk:

Welp this may backfire, l'm sure some folks have a low tolerance to alcohol. They say only 2 bevys per customer and with food only. Sure l can see it now bumper car demolition derby on the B.C. Ferries.
Isn't drinking in the parks enough  what's next alcohol available at all your local food drive thru's. :drunk: :beersign:

Absolutely tiny 🐜 Antman, although l was in grade 5 at the time. It's not until l got abit older that l realized how amazing the Kitsilano neighborhood was. It was l suppose the happening place to be in Vancouver at the time, Kitsilano beach, English Bay Wreck Beach no l wasn't allowed to go  Jericho Beach.
Spent 2 summers there 69 and 70 before we moved in late spring of 71 to 49th and Fraser in Vancouver.
I remember the big summer event was the Vancouver Sea Festival with the highlight being the Nanaimo to Vancouver bath tub race wow! what a time. Capped off with kids day at the PNE before returning to school.
Man how boring the summers are now can't forget the White Rock sand castle competition.
