Favorite Bobby Orr Stories.

1. Bruins are killing a penalty. Leafs coach sends rookie Lanny McDonald on the ice. Orr goes behind the Bruins goal and Lanny positions himself in front of the net. After a few seconds Lanny looks around then decides to go after him. Orr skates around the front of the net and back behind. Lanny sets up in front again. He decides to go after him again and Orr does the same thing. Play goes on and Lanny tags off the ice. The Leafs bench, coaches included were laughing their butts off.

2. Another penalty kill Bobby skates around the Boston goal losing one of his gloves in the process and starts up the ice. He skates around as Bobby would do passing opponents until he was boxed out. Still with the puck he skates back, goes behind the Bruins net. Picks up his glove off the ice, puts it on in full flight. Skates up the ice dips and doodles around the opponents deaks the goalie and scores short handed.

3. Orr's rookie year. Bobby Hull and the Blackhawks are in the Garden to play the Bruins. After the first period was over Boston leads 3-1 with Orr scoring 2 goals and assisting on the third. The teams come out for the second period and Bobby Hull immediately heads over to the referee. He asks what are we going to do about the kid. The ref says what do you want to do. HULL says give him the puck he had that whole first period then throw out another one for the rest if us to play with.

4. Canada Cup 1976. Orr can't even practise but plays in every game. He ices his knees which are killing him after each period and game. Bobby Clarke is amazed that he can even get himself out onto the ice. He ties for the tournament scoring lead and was named player of the game 3 x's. Bobby Hull has said you new his career was coming to a tragic end because of the knees. But even on one leg he was better than every other player in the tournament on two legs.

So how great was Bobby Orr. Well hockey while being big in Canada and the coldest European countries doesn't even Crack the top 10 in the USA. The city of Boston has voted Bobby Orr the greatest athlete to ever Play in that city. Baby Ruth pitched there as did Roger Clemens. Carl Yaztremski and Ted Williams, the last player in baseball to hit .400 played their as well. What can you say about Tom Brady. Then you have Bill Russell and Larry Bird. Bird before every game at the garden during the anthem said he would look up at the number 4 hanging from the rafters and think if I can be half as good, give half the effort he did, it'll be a great game.

Bobby Orr really only played 9 years. And people and athletes alike have that much reverence for him. He must truly be the GOAT. Plus he's modest and the nicest person you'd ever meet.
What a legacy.

Myocarditis. Unfortunate but a good precaution that he takes a few weeks off. Don't want another Eriksen situation like at the euros last summer.
Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann told a pre-match news conference Friday that the problem was detected in the follow-up examination that all players who have had COVID undergo.

“He'll sit out training until further notice. He won't be available, also in the coming weeks,” Nagelsmann said in German.

“The ultrasound shows this myocarditis isn't so dramatic but it's a sign of myocarditis. Still, it has to heal and that will definitely take some time,” he added.

Myocarditis is a mild, temporary condition in the vast majority of cases, according to experts.

Asked if the myocarditis was due to COVID, Nagelsmann said it's hard to tell.

“There are different reasons, especially viral load or the flu, for instance, that can cause cardiac problems,” he said through an interpreter.

“That occurred pre-corona to other players. Now the probability is higher if you combine corona and top athleticism, that might cause other problems. But that's not relevant for us right now. It's not relevant to the treatment. It doesn't matter if Alphonso Davies had this from the flu or Omicron-Delta or whatever. That's not really the decisive factor.

“The situation is that it's absolutely awful, terrible. What can I say? A bad situation for us.”

I think we will be fine. We have a pretty deep squad now, especially in midfield and attacking positions. Good chance for others to prove their worth.

3rd loss in a row for the Knuckles getting lots of shots, guess the dream is over no playoffs.

Oh ye of little faith

Two solid wins over Wash and Nash to end the difficult road trip after the long double break. Thought they held their own in all 5 games , could've squeaked out a victory in one of the Florida games but Demko just had too much rust to shake off. Watching them play now is like night & day compared to the Travis Green era.

Can't believe they're ahead of the oilers , might have to re-release The Wreck of the Edmonton Oilers and tweak the lyrics.

Knuckles postponed 7 games schedule has been released not bad scheduling the league cut them a break for once. I remember back in the Gillis era and Brian Burke they would lobby the league for better scheduling due to our location it worked l recall. The Ottawa Senators game was rescheduled for April 19th.
