Good finish for the Nucks last night.

BTW, Boston's Tuukka Rask is retiring after his 15th year in Boston. Only 4 players in hockey history have played more years with the same club than Rask, Jonathan Slow and Carey Priceless...

Having Brucie from day 1 will be massive
IMO Boeser and Miller will be interesting to see what they do there plus afew other lower end players.

Pop quiz, who was the oldest player in the NHL for the most number of years?

Zdeno Chara has been the oldest player for 3 years running now, but how does that stack up?

If you're thinking Gordie Howe, you are so wrong that you could be a politician or a pedophile.

Howe was the oldest player for just 2 years. The first was in 1970/71 at the age of 42/43 and the 2nd was his final year in 1979/1980 at the age of 51/52. That's because he retired and played in the rival WHA between those two years.

So you're thinking, "okay, how about Jagr?"

Nope, he was the oldest for 4 years though.

Chelios?

Nope, but he was the oldest player in the NHL for 5 years.

The answer is... *drum roll*

.

.

.
.
.

Johnny Bower, who was the oldest player in the NHL for an entire decade! And the two years prior he was the 2nd oldest behind Maurice "The Rocket" Richard. The next longest was Georges Vezina's replacement in goal in Montreal when he died, George Hainesworth who was the league's oldest player for 6 years.

The youngest players to be NHL oldest (if you know what I mean) were Dit Clapper (34) in 1942 and Turk Broda (34) in 1949.

Zdeno Chara is currently the 4th oldest player to ever play in the NHL (5th if you want to count emergency goalies). Only Gordie Howe, Chris Chelios, and Jaromir Jagr were older.

Jim Rutherford talking tough from coaching and structure to player salaries and cap space. Wants to take emotion and stupidy out of the equation. We needed that philosophy several years ago instead of max cap spending for a non-playoff team. Look no further than the Rangers and Kings to see how quickly a rebuild can be done to get younger and also make the playoffs. As Tom Larscheid used to say , coulda woulda shoulda.
