Would rely more on the mesoscale models at this range. HRDPS?

The low looks to be intensifying with landfall just off central Vancouver Island. The whip of dry air behind the front suggests rapidly developing winds soon.

Outside. 15cm here
Snow is actually kind of fluffy. Not concrete but just wet enough for snowballs

As expected, the strong wind has brought the temp up to 2c. At least it’s not raining but a warm wind can quickly melt snow on the ground :problem:

SE and S winds are really efficient at warming the air here. Already +4C in Ferndale and +5C in Victoria :dancepine:

Cooler in Seattle

Just shoveled and measured. 10.5 cm patio, 12 cm grass, so I'mma call it 11.

Snow is noticeably wet, but still accumulating because the first bit I shoveled already has a layer of white again.

It’s definitely raining in Ladner now. That transition is a lot earlier than I had expected. So much for enjoying snow for the evening.

So I guess I was pretty much right. An ok event, hopefully around 9cm and transition to rain earlier and end to precip earlier. A bust from the forecast models with many locations less than 50% of forecast. The GFS and GEM precip models are almost always useless.

Partially because it's above freezing now, so new snow minus melt will be negative...

...but also partly because I want a beer and to not go outside again, I am ringing in today's total at 11 cm.
