It is looking increasingly like a pattern change and no December 2016 redux. Hopefully that's not it for this winter, a good January would be a welcome change.

So are we thinking things are warming up now until Christmas? Not complaining one bit about what we've had so far but sure would be nice to have some cold temperatures right around Christmas, hell I'm good with even clear and cold. I always rely on your comments and judging from the last day or so, my gut is telling me that right now it's not looking great for cooler temperatures??

The models are definitely leaning that way. It could change. It could also be very short lived, a quick ridge that retrogrades late in the month. We've seen before when a winter starts well it continues to work out in our favour.

Lots of cold members on the ensembles. The long range is still undecided in my opinion. Confidence in the extended remains low.

Thinking models are overdoing blocking in the LR. Feel like we could go zonal for a bit before blocking returns in Jan.

That's definitely a possible solution. However, I'm still not convinced the models have a good handle on the long range pattern. :flakey:

I was really hoping the East would get their cold this week and next to set us up for Christmas. Oh well.
