Looks like a very sad ski season start. Mild and dry November is the worst way to start a snowpack season. I hope early December brings cold and snowy to mountains and all over southern BC.

And Santa brings gifts to all the good boy's and girl's and animals, Hawk, Hounder, Goosed.

Sadly, Monty posted a map on the AF that looks like the polar vortex is taking a beating shrinking big time. Kinda like when you stand outside in the cold too long. (guy's would understand)

A weak polar vortex can be good if blocking is favourable. That’s what happened last February

What's wrong with the 00Z Euro it looks kinda interesting low placement is not the best for mountain snow.

That’s like a 6-7000ft snow level.

I'm not forking it early this year I got bbq'd last year for cancelling to soon and then proceeded to loose to Gumpy in the over the hill and out to pasture snow contest. Of course with Johnny refereeing no wonder I lost He slept in on snow day's.

I've been surprised at the lack of calls for winter cancel so far this year, we must be growing wiser in our old age. and with recent history as proof winter's not over at the end of November.

Well we had a decent start to fall and fairly chilly at times. Sadly, the ridging has established itself in a sad location. Nito likes it and to be honest with you, I'm enjoying a dry November as I prepare myself for shocking cold and snow in December

Hey the models are trending drier with a stronger west coast block. That's a win!

00z GFS wet. This would be a normal late november pattern. Its likely an outlier but the models are flip flopping a bit. 06z and 12z way drier. Ensembles drier but they aren't totally dry.

That being said, this is not exceptional both in France and in Italy to see that in mid-November at these altitudes.
