Still very insistently snow grains/ice pellets here. Very dense in the air now too. Moderate ice pellets? Heavy ice pellets?

Not my wish. Freezing rain is pretty and preserves the snow for Xmas. Hopefully Xmas is 15C and rain.

Ice pellets here since about 0300am. Such a disappointment. I would definitely call this a bust.

More importantly, really worried about power outages and damage to infrastructure later with the freezing rain. Yikes.

Canadian models got this all wrong.
Ya I think many here were not really paying attention to what other models were saying when it wasn’t snow. Too much wishcasting for some not used to cold air and rain like the valley often sees east of 264th St.

2.5 cm mixture of snow and ice pellets overnight. Currently ice pellets with some freezing rain, temp -2.8

I've attached the current skew-t overhead, the warm air aloft is gradually increasing but there is still some cold air trapped underneath.

I really don't think we weren't paying attention. We knew a transition was coming and that it could involve PL/ZR. The problem is it happened way earlier than even the Euro was showing. Now surface temps are running more or less where they should be but clearly the cold layer is also thinner.

Welp, people always say Western Metro doesn't get ice storms often, so if they wanted to see one, here we are.

Still snowing at a decent rate here, at least 10cm new accumulated since last night. Outflow winds have died down a fair bit.

And as expected....people are not listening to the warnings. Costco down the road is a zoo and there's a 3 car pile up on Cariboo.

Too much attention to the larger models with terrain bleed and less accuracy. The short term local models I find are more reliable within 12-16 hours.

Costco people don’t listen to radio and tv. They only know what their friend message them or their Pinterest feeds.
