Clearly MoT messaging right now is that Surrey is expendable.

Yeah, the 1998 ice storm out there was horrific.

So much for those collars. Guess they don't work on straight-up ice.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Ucluelet seeing freezing rain accumulations yesterday evening/night was probably a dead giveaway that even Vancouver would be in for a decent period of the stuff today.

Should go back to the arch design for all new bridges. Looks way better too.

Will be pretty sad when the Patullo is gone. These new bridges have zero character... like most things built in Vancouver nowadays.

I'm becoming more confident that we might avoid a major ice storm. Unfortunately, we also missed out on the modelled snowstorm.

There was just so much warm air associated with this AR. Even with the outflow, my temperature is rapidly warming.

Regardless, this was an awesome winter event. Classic arctic front followed by 30cm of snow followed by a reload of arctic air. These types of setups are rare around here so even though this wasn't a 1996 or 2008 repeat, it's still more than we can expect in our climate.

Merry Christmas everyone! :D

:bang:
That's why the tunnel is being replaced with a tunnel of course.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

LOL! That bridge was a fail from the start. Everyone involved should have been fired, and sued. Same thing with the 200th St. overpass. Access to Golden Ears Bridge, probably the new Patullo as well.

Freezing level tomorrow may spike up to 700mb or 10,000ft. Very impressive warmth aloft with precip.
