It snowed for a while at my place and there was a trace on the grass.arbetrader wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 10:54 pm Hey, did anyone from Abbotsford post that they received an anomalous snowfall yesterday morning?
We had snow here in the morning, and it started coming down pretty hard (the site was down so I couldn't post)...
I drove out to Whatcom in East Abbotsford as I live close-by. Everything was completely white there, naturally super wet snow as it was above freezing - they got about 1cm.
The funny thing is that it was raining in the highlands just above whatcom interchange... So strange - just where the cold air was sitting I guess...
Anyway, I figured I'd post that now as I noticed YXX didn't report any snow at all, and it seemed to be just rain west of Sumas Way.

We had a nice little snowfall that lasted until about noon. All the trees turned white it looked beautiful!

lol, definitely no Summer Breeze here now. Wind is pretty constant with gusts rattling the windows and a few small plastic containers blown around. The 'best'

Currently a toasty 12.3c in Sechelt, pineapple growing weather with a high of 13.6c at 4 pm. The wind is warm, always a warning sign imo.

Re: January 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
For those residing in the Fraser valley l highly recommend checking out the giant ice
build up out by the Aggasiz/Rosedale Bridge.
South side is best access to this unprecedented and perhaps a long time between something this massive taking place again.
Also checked out East Whack man's hood wow incredible view with lots of new builds going on up there, saw some site surveying going on as well.

Re: January 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
December sure didn't have much snow. only 28 cm even at 1000 m elevation (Spokin Lake). 60% of normal. Similar for the Williams Lake airport.
But that's the interior.
On the coast, it was also close to snow-free.
QUATSINO LIGHTSTATION = 0 cm of snow.
BONILLA ISLAND = 0.6 cm (6% of normal)
ADDENBROKE ISLAND = 6 cm (41% of normal)
NOOTKA LIGHTSTATION = 2 cm (43% of normal)
But I cherrypicked the few spots with little snow. Here are some others for balance...
NORTH COWICHAN = 56.8 cm (600% of normal)
SHAWNIGAN LAKE = 64.6 cm (434% of normal)
ESTEVAN POINT = 7.4 cm (433% of normal)
COMOX A = 43.8 cm (235% of normal)
And in the interior:
PEACHLAND = 81 cm! (259% of normal)

Re: January 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
I noticed the wind had died down and went to EC to check if that was it and Wind Warning Ended. Always nice to see the green unless it's a snow warning, then the more red the better.
