I think the people at the ECMWF are just playing a particularly odd April Fool's joke on us.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 7:49 pm Euro still sticking to its guns re: April snow.

Re: March 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
Komo
In the lowlands, Friday night's steady rain will give way to rounds of weekend showers. Some of the pockets of wet weather will include hail, thunder, lightning and heavy stray bursts of wet lowland snow. We'll enjoy plentiful sunbreaks, too, but if you'll be outdoors this weekend for the various Daffodil Parades or the Tulip Festival, prepare for occasional rounds of damp, chilly weather. Weekend highs will have trouble getting out of the 40s, so we'll run a good 10 degrees below average.

Re: March 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
99% of Alaskans have never seen a polar bear given those bears live way up on the north and western coast where there are no roads and hardly any people.
Also, no, it's not cold until mid-june and then winter-august. June is the nicest month up there with dry and sunny conditions so summer is more like late May to late July. Fall is August and Winter is the rest of the year until late April when it's spring. In Anchorage the snow is usually gone on April 14th, but this year they still have 60cm on the ground! With long hours of light, it will be gone fast now though.
