I was looking back at the historical data for Abbotsford during the June 2021 heat dome and I'm still in shock with the intensity of that event.

On June 28th, 2021, YXX reported a temperature of 42.2C with a dew point of 20.1C. This resulted in a Humidex value of 50C.

It will be interesting to see if we ever experience another heatwave on that scale in our lifetime. I doubt it but it's impossible to say for sure. My guess is that it's an event as rare as the October 1962 windstorm. We have yet to see a repeat of that event.

Hopefully we get a nice summer without smoke and periods of heat and some cooler days to keep the heat manageable. 8-)

Indeed it was an unreal event we went through and it's disappointing we didn't end with any T.S. either but the legacy left was unprecedented the burning of Lytton and the massive wildfires during that summer.
But what was to come in mid November was just as unprecedented but with major rainfall and flooding l don't think l'll ever experience those 2 events again in my life time. :o

and don't forget the November 2021 UBC tornado. that was sure an epic year for wild weather. There was another notable event or two but I think they were early 2022, can't remember what they were though.

Here's the tornado video again, incredible to watch trees just laying down and then the 'snowfall' of branches. Fabulous video...and the only way I ever want to see one!

I'll have to watch for that in winter. I just remember watching during the summer heat to see when it peaks outside so I can start opening windows. The house usually starts climbing just after it starts cooling outside.
