SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
3:51 PM PDT Sunday 24 September 2023
Strong winds that may cause damage and power outages are expected.
Where: Metro Vancouver.
When: Monday morning to Monday night.
Weather Hazard: This is the first wind storm of this autumn with full foliage. The heavy tree branches are more prone to break in strong winds and it may lead to more damage and power outage than subsequent wind storms of similar wind speeds later in the season.
Remarks: A strong Pacific weather system will bring strong winds and rain starting this evening. Strong southeast winds at 30 km/h gusting to 50 will develop early Monday morning and continue though Tuesday. For Metro Vancouver regions near the water, strong southeast winds at 50 gusting to 70 km/h are expected from Monday morning to Monday evening.
Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

I see A.I. Canada has a risk of Tshowers for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser valley tomorrow. no one seems to get excited much anymore.

MAYDAY MAYDAY! We need some warm sunny weather this month. Some showers mixed in would be good too

Yes but 2013 had a wet September followed by a dry October.

Re: September 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
I actually wonder if wunderground was reporting incorrect numbers? For example when I saw the map overview, it showed roughly 0.8-1" for various weather stations, but now when I clicked on one of those individual stations like here https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/ILANGLEY20, it shows 9.14mm.

Re: September 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Ya the rainfall totals have been unimpressive so far. More off than on in terms of the rain. More like intermittent rain At least in the metro Van region. Maybe up the coast and on Vancouver Island the rainfall is heavier.stuffradio wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 7:35 am I actually wonder if wunderground was reporting incorrect numbers? Re: September 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Some of those glacier fed river are already seeing very low flows. I read somewhere that every single Alpine glacier in BC and Alberta (that's not connected to a major ice field) will dissappear in the next 30 years.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:01 pm This can't be good forum friends.
