With no arctic air on the horizon for at least the next few weeks, it's now safe to say Vancouver will go over six years without recording a single temperature below -10C.

The stat makes February 2019 really stick out. Coldest Feb since 1936 yet not a single temp below -10C.

Seems our climate is still capable of pulling off prolonged chilly periods but is severely lacking in producing those cold -4C/-13C type days we used to see more frequently in the 20th century.

Pretty much what my graph shows as well. This makes sense with climate change. We can get a pattern lock, but with the warming in the arctic the source of the cold air isn't as cold as it used to be as there's less ice. The jet stream is more buckled now.

You do realize the earth has warmed about a half a degree Doubt it has that much impact on the jet stream LOL

You do realize the earth has warmed about a half a degree Doubt it has that much impact on the jet stream LOL

There is no denying climate change. But I do firmly deny the alarmist position, because the climate changing is not catastrophic. The earth and its inhabitants will adapt. Of course, climate change is not what we weather enthusiasts want, as it inevitably means less cold. But its nature and nature always changes and adapts. Its part of how our earth was created. Its normal yet sad for us who want lots of cold and snow.

By the way, for those interested in debating this further, please do not respond to this post to do so. I'm not interested in engaging a climate change debate here. I'm just pointing out that while I still firmly reject the alarmist position, I do not at all deny climate change in and of itself.

The arctic has warmed 2c and there is significantly less ice. Recent world temperatures are 1c warmer.

Too bad I cancelled my ski pass after this weekend's 20 epic runs in the beginner area. The next week looks to have 3500-4500 foot freezing levels. When do those Euro snows kick in?

Its not showing an arctic blast yet but let's hope it does. It does show a massive southern ridge. If the SW half would amplify over the GOA and the SE portion would remain in tact, we could be in business.
