Even in this climate I think most roofs are designed to take 30 cm of snow. Maybe if there was twice as much it would be time to start worrying, particularly if rain was forecast, but there was about this much snow on the ground last winter (from multiple smaller snowfalls instead of one big one) and I don’t recall hearing of any roof failures.

Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
I'd call this a heavy flurry now. I'm curious how hard it's actually going to snow...and if it'll be dark before we can watch it. I'm getting spoiled and I want to see it all.
I wonder if this can overperform and I can get a 5 day weekend? I'd take that, however I'd easily rather work tomorrow than deal with a significant ice storm.

I'm seeing potential for a Pineapple Express setup near the end of the month. We will have to see how it unfolds but could be an active pattern.

Fwiw this equestrian riding arena roof collapsed in south Langley yesterday afternoon. It is possible that it was pretty old also though.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 3:38 pm Even in this climate I think most roofs are designed to take 30 cm of snow. Re: January 2024 Forecasts and Discussions
It's accumulating on West Pender.
It's also -1 with light outflow at YVR. When this turns to rain it'll be ZR across the entire lower mainland for a few hours, I bet.

Starting to stick to the roads here again, but damn, it's taken too long to ramp up.

Moderate snow bare areas now white but by how quiet it is tonight on this forum most people must not believe this will amount to much.
