I backtested it one more year to 2021-22 (I'm procrastinating with this today ):

I think this system officially works well. Climo scores very consistently, which it should.
won by a bit in 2021-22, which I think we can agree was a solid and slightly above average year
won by a lot in 2022-23, which we probably agree was a very good year
won by a lot in 2023-24, as it should in a fairly typical El Nino year with just one standout event

Yeah, remember that one clearly. The highway was a mess between between Kensington exit and Port Mann Bridge. Very heavy snow for a couple of hours.

Yep, that big one was in late January 2008! 10-20cm here in just a few hours while it was sunny in downtown.

Would have been a crazy few days if the trough axis had shifted East and not dug so much. Models suggest one last shower late tomorrow into early Monday as the trough disintegrates.
