Whats the difference between the Ensemble control run versus the mean? And which is considered more accurate? Is the control one random member out of all of them and the mean the average of all of them? If so, then the mean would most likely be more reliable than the control.

Somewhere I have a few (film, of course, given the year) photos I took in the Seattle suburb of Shoreline in 1996. I measured nearly two feet on my back deck after it had changed to warm rain and been melting for a few hours! The rapid melting after that event made at least a big a mess of things as the heavy snowfall did.

The roadside snow berms were approximately the same height as the roof line of the average sedan. It was surreal.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Mean is more reliable yes. The control seems to like to spit out some pretty crazy cold solutions. Not sure exactly where it comes from.
