I'm surprised John is so quiet on this subject but l think John is more into federal than provincial, l'm leaning towards EL Neetzzz thinking however our winter views will never be resolved. but l still respect Neaters on his outlandish winter predictions.

John Rustad is a nice enough guy, but I think people are starting to clue in that there's zero substance behind his words. He's basically making it up as he goes along. He's promising so many new infrastructure projects, but says he going to cut taxes and hand out free money at the same time. So where's he going to get all this money? I'm sure you can guess: by cutting elsewhere or creating new fees and tolls (But "no new taxes"... lol). He also wants to roll back Eby's ICBC reforms, which almost no one other than lawyers think is a good idea. It's only a matter of time before he decides to bring back MSP premiums and bridge tolls, too. The NDP's ads say the same thing, but it's just common logic. There's no way to fulfill all of his promises while simultaneously cutting taxes without finding new sources of funding.
The more you dig into the party itself the more it becomes clear that half of the candidates are clueless. These guys are basically a fringe party that only became relevant due to the collapse of BC United. They are nothing like the federal Conservatives in terms of depth and organization.
The NDP aren't perfect, but they at least have a realistic platform. I will vote for them and hope for a legitimate contender to rise from the ashes of BC United over the next four years.
I think the NDP will eek out a slim majority. Kevin Falcon drove the BC United into the ground. I still think the name change was a horrible idea. I'd love to vote for a free enterprise coalition like the BC Liberals were, but I cannot bring myself to vote for the BC Conservatives who like Abby man says are basically a fringe party that has capitalized on the collapse of the coalition. Too bad.

While I'm hoping the BC Conservatives win a majority, I still think the NDP will form government for another term. To clarify, I don't agree with everything John Rustad has said. But I do think we need a change and my bias is typically centre-right. However, the problem is that many people feel Rustad has gone too far to the right and there is still a strong NDP presence in the larger cities. But eventually people will want a change so I predict the Conservatives will win next time. But it's likely going to be a lot closer than the last election. Time will tell but I'm going to vote tomorrow.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if the BC Conservatives win a majority. I think the NDP has at least one more term. That said, I will be happy with a Conservative majority. Not because I agree with everything John Rustad has said, but because I personally feel we need a change and my political bias has always been centre-right. But I could be wrong. We will just have to wait and see as the polls are not always accurate.
I voted already since I'll be away burning rubber through the Lower Mainland on election day. I had 4 choices:
1) Libertarian
2) NDP
3) Conservative
4) Independent
I voted for the independent. The Libertarian is totally nuts, and the NDP and Conservative candidates would both do a good job representing the riding. I couldn't vote for the Conservative candidate because he was parachuted in from Kamloops. I know the independent who is a neighbor, so he gets my vote.
The Conservatives plan to run an $11B deficit in their first year, more than the NDP or Greens. Of course, they say it's temporary, but it's still raising some eyebrows.
They are also projecting 5.4% annual economic growth, which is higher than we experienced during the entire BC Liberal regime under Gordon Campbell and Christy Clark. The only time growth has exceeded 5% in the past 25 years was in 2021, which was due to the economic rebound from the COVID recession.
Economists are estimating growth in the neighbourhood of 2%, so it's unclear how the Conservatives are arriving at such an optimistic figure. the NDP is estimating 3.1% growth, which is pretty much in line with historical averages.
Also, for what it's worth, BC already has high GDP growth compared to most of Canada.
but l still respect Neaters on his outlandish winter predictions.
