Is it "through Monday" yet Nito?

I'm looking for an actual explanation of what it is that they're possibly seeing. For example, EC is saying 5 more cm for the city proper. Where are they getting that?

Updated snowfall warning for Metro Van:
4:28 PM PST Sunday 2 February 2025

A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected.

Where: Metro Vancouver and Howe Sound.

When: Now through Monday morning.

Remarks: Bands of snowfall and localized heavy flurries continue to impact the South Coast of B.C. through Monday morning. A period of heavy snowfall is expected again tonight. Additional accumulations will vary across the region, ranging from 5 to 10 cm. The highest amounts will likely occur over higher terrain, but other areas may see locally intense flurries giving reduced visibility and heavy snow accumulation. Precipitation will taper off to a few flurries Monday morning.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

People are correct to say it was a bust for many areas but the set-up with no organized system was based on localized heavy precip that here in Newton just didn't happen. Forecasting in this area is extremely difficult. Just a FYI for people some of the roads in Surrey became ice rinks with the sleet/grapple, saw a 5 car accident on 100th by Green Timbers. ( Sheet of ice )

They see the ULL out west rotating bands of moisture around it and assume we could see 5-10cm from a random burst of showers but the warnings also include amounts of 10-20cm and 15-25cm.

It's hard to keep track and they do a poor job communicating. The NWS does a better job in their writeups.

It’s coming down very nicely here in Langley Hawks hill. My vehicle was sort of slipping. I saw two rear end accidents and was asked to be a witness for one of them.

Not seeing that much more for MBY, based on the mesoscale models. Maybe more like up to 5 cm more by tomorrow morning here.
