Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Just looked at the Euro and GFS and looks like the next round of Fraser outflow starts Monday afternoon or evening.
Gradual moderation is already underway but looks chilly until then with mins around -10˚C on the clear nights (not all nights will be clear). Maxes around +1 or +2˚C. No big melt in the foreseeable future.
Temps have not been extraordinarily cold but this cold snap is shaping up to be noteworthy for its duration.
Next chance for moisture seems to be Saturday morning. ECMWF, GFS, and NAM 3km show some light snow then. Will probably be patchy/showery.

Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Hopefully the cold stays trapped in the valley today. I'd like to at least stay slightly below freezing.

Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Just no juice in the Northern stream.
MJO entering phase 7 and probably phase 8.
Means the
is coming in 7-10 days. GFS shows gradual moderation into AR. CMC shows a potentially significant AR overrunning event.
Euro weeklies and CFS bring the cold back towards early March.

And given that we are already five days into the cold snap, that will make for a remarkably long-playing one.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:49 am Just no juice in the Northern stream.

Kinda nice not having a bird flapping around here this morning. It's currently -4.0c @ the pond in south Sardis.

2 week cold snap with snow on the ground is pretty impressive.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 9:00 am And given that we are already five days into the cold snap, that will make for a remarkably long-playing one.
always wins in the end. Of course it’s coming.
The GFS tries to rebuild that NPAC ridge after that

Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
I actually do not see any significant warming until April. I could see us feeding into a ton more moisture in March for plenty of Mountain
La Nina is kicking into gear.
