Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
The Euro AIFS model has done a really good job with this upcoming reload. It never latched onto the colder suppressed solutions shown on the deterministic runs. Rather, it had the GOA block being undercut rather quickly by the energy from the NE. This is now the most likely solution. In fact, even the GFS and GEM did a better job than the Euro deterministic. It's really performed poorly with this cold snap. From way overdoing last weekends snowfall to getting the 500mb pattern completely wrong with this upcoming reload, it's not lived up to the common hype. This idea that other solutions should be discarded if they don't have Euro support is simply misguided. To clarify, it's very good and one of the best models. But there are examples where it has got the pattern wrong. Another one would be February 2021 where it had the polar lobe slamming into SWBC within 7 days. But as the event drew closer, it shifted the cold east of the Rockies. To be honest, it's probably best not to take any model at face value but rather look for both trends and agreement. No model is perfect and some of them will perform better than others during various scenarios.

Now it's really coming down! Moderate sized flakes, +0.6 so not sticking on the clear deck but adding up on the snow.

Re: February 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
Winter was fine, actually. The snow on the ground was regularly getting freshened and everything was pretty and white. And the mountains looked spectacular. Plus great skiing at the local mom and pop ski area that got the same Utah powder the big expensive crowded resorts did.
It was spring I couldn’t stand.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Maybe but I'm not overly confident in it. Good chance the low tracks a bit too far south for a snowstorm up here.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 10:49 am So will l see any snow in the central valley desert before we morph into rain and mild next weekend Jr. Man?

There are people wishing for winter to end badly right now in the snowbelts.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:14 am Snow gets old real fast in those snowbelts. You feel imminent dread when you see clouds moving in during a cold day.
I still have PTSD from my brief years out there.
Certainly looks like we are done with the snow based on the trends. This mornings runs supress the southern stream until we see the warm up.
Unfortunately someone died On Highway 11 yesterday during a snow squall.
All about them Cowboys !!!

Blue sky and no snow now and it's warmed up and the snow is falling off the trees.

EC overestimated with a tr-4cms = 0cm. I guess they were close with the "up to 2cms"?
for yet another victory

Starting to think this forum is about a different kind of snowflake.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:40 am Calling other posters “loser” seems a bit harsh. I don’t much care what happened in the past. It’s the past, and up until this morning I haven’t noticed any blatantly antagonistic behaviour here this season. Can’t we let buried hatchets stay buried?
on a weather related forum is the worst thing happening in your life consider yourself one lucky person.

some of you love to visit the American PNW weather forum. One question...will this weather forum get deleted once Trump has Annexed Canada? And then we will all be in that American forum with all those extremely passionate weather folks?
