Here's a paragraph here about one of his programs he wants to introduce. I think this is talking about Carney's plan and not Europe's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

"Initially, the fees will be applied to materials that traditionally generate lots of emissions to produce and have a lot of global competition, such as iron, steel, cement, fertilizers, aluminum, hydrogen and electricity."

So, this week we have Mark Carney taking photo-ops talking about protecting the very people he will be taxing if he's elected in an election? Specifically, is he talking about taxing foreign steel or Canadian made steel?
So at a time when Trump has imposed a 25% tariff on our steel, our own leader wants to impose another tax on top of it? Ridiculous.  :x :x

I'm going to wait for more details before I pass judgement. On the surface this sounds kind of like a cap and trade program, but more complicated...

"We, in effect, will provide them with more options to reduce emissions because they will be able to pay for the emission reductions of Canadian households."

Carney said the rebate program will be designed to reward Canadians for buying products such as energy efficient appliances, electric vehicles or better home insulation with a fixed dollar amount rebate.

Those consumer rebates will be packaged as a credit that large industrial emitters can purchase and use against their own emissions."

Carney has kept most of the old Liberal party in his government. Hopefully this causes the Conservatives to surge in the polls.

Agreed. As Poilievre said, Carney is imposing a quote “tax trick” on Canadians. Hopefully the Conservatives win a majority.

It's the same old apple dumpling gang, and the West gets shafted yet again, only 2 cabinet ministers West of Thunder Bay, with most concentrated in Ontario and Quebec, what a surprise.
Carney already caught in a few lies, or accidently on purpose got his facts wrong.
And what does Carney and Quebec have in common? They both hate the oil industry. Even amidst the tariff chaos, Quebec premier on record stating they will block any pipelines, music to Carney's ears. And yet Quebec never says no to the billions$ of transfer payments mainly funded by Alberta oil. Quebec's dairy industry also protected by government and huge 273% tariffs on competitors .
Sorry for the tangent but the special treatment they get is very annoying and unfair.

Why would anyone outside of Quebec even contemplate voting for the liberal clowns for a 4th straight term is beyond me.

The ultimate goal is shut down all cement and metal production by 2050. The 2030 goal of net zero is fast approaching. But the government is starting to transition to Absolute Zero, which is to increase taxes on manufacturers of new cement, aluminum, steel, etc until it goes out of business entirely. Only recycled materials are allowed in 25 years under with Absolute Zero.

I certainly believe you that that is the ultimate goal of the Liberals.

Apparently Mark Carney was using fake documents for declaring that the Consumer Carbon Tax was over. He can't legally do anything without the parliament being recalled, and the paper he signed on Friday meant nothing. Nothing in law was actually changed. It would have been better for him to just say "We are going to repeal this tax when parliament is returned" or something like that. Instead he's going for snake oil and saying the consumer carbon tax was gone while signing a fake piece of paper.

It’s baffling that anybody would vote for Carney over Poilievre. Absolutely ridiculous that the Liberals could win another term. :x

Most of Canadians are pure leftists/progressives... You know, I'm French, and I know what Western Europe has become in less than 30 years. Canada is following the same path...

To be honest, I think the biggest issue is that people are becoming less willing to budge on social politics both among the left and the right. Unfortunately, the highest population of people with far left ideology reside in the regions with the most electoral seats available. For the Conservatives to win a majority, they need to convince over half of Ontario to vote for them, which is hard to do given the strong left wing bias there, especially in the large cities. It’s really frustrating. :x :x
