In the states Trump got in because many Americans were tired of Democrats shoving electrification and wokeism down their throats.

Re: Politics
Trump won the US election because he won the swing states. Here in Canada, Ontario and Quebec would be our equivalent to the US swing states in that they often determine our election results. However, people in the US swing states seem more willing to flip between left and right governments versus people here in Ontario and Quebec. This is why I think Poilievre will unfortunately have a much more difficult time getting in versus Trump. While I could be wrong, I can easily see the Liberals getting another term. However, this would be devastating for our already devastated economy so let’s hope that I’m wrong.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 4:25 pm In the states Trump got in because many Americans were tired of Democrats shoving electrification and wokeism down their throats.

Re: Politics
Donald Trump endorsed Mark Carney tonight. He said he would rather have Mark Carney as PM of Canada instead of Pollievre.

Yes, but Trump did campaign hard on relaxing the mining and drilling laws, and stamp out woke culture, dei, etc.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 5:49 pm Trump won the US election because he won the swing states. I wonder if conservatives can win at least half of Ontario if that would be enough.

Re: Politics
Just to play Devil's Advocate... Trump wants Poilievre to win, but knows that his endorsement would hurt his chances. By endorsing Carney, people are more likely to vote for Poilievre.

Re: Politics
Someone called into CKNW and said that's what Trump was thinking but Keith Baldrey said he didn't think Trump was smart enough to be doing something like that.

Re: Politics
Socially, in general, yes.
Fiscally, at least in the past, tended more to the left. Think back to people like Moe Sihota.
From what I can (anecdotally) tell, the immigration/international students/TFW mismanagement over the last 10 years has lurched many within the community, both those who are also immigrants themselves but been settled here for decades, alongside those who are Canadian born to the right. That may be temporary, but it's definitely a reality for now.
