That and last weekend I put my snow tires on to kill any chance of snow this month.

A really crappy setup for the mountains.

Back-to-back-to-back ARs next week will definitely lead to flooding in some parts of the PNW. Still some ambiguity on where they will set up and who will see the most rain.

AR #1 on Monday:
gem_mslp_pcpn_frzn_nwus_fh66-96.gif

AR # 2 Tuesday evening to Wednesday:
gem_mslp_pcpn_frzn_nwus_fh108-132.gif

AR # 3 on Friday:
gem_mslp_pcpn_frzn_nwus_fh168-192.gif

Next Friday is the one to watch for a significant and long lasting snowstorm for the central interior and north coast. Battleground regions between the arctic air to the north and the AR to the south.

Looks like the 00z GFS might get cold after day 7‐8.

Edit: Nope, Aleutian ridge retrogrades further offshore. The fish in the Gulf of Alaska get to enjoy a cold snap instead.

There is a theory that arctic outbreaks can sometimes follow an atmospheric river setup like what we are entering.

December 1979 and early December 1990 both had huge ARs on the S.Coast. Both were followed by cold weather; 1st week of January in 1980 and the latter half of December in 1990. The rain was so bad in victoria in 1990 that the water was bubbling up through the storm sewer lids on Cook and Quadra streets at high tide.

The ARs in November 1990 resulted in the reappearance of Sumas Lake, much like November 2021.

December 2021 had plenty of snow and cold… even a White Christmas.

06z GFS shows a stronger pulse of modified arctic air settling further south into the interior on Wednesday following Tuesday night's AR... weak outflow reaches the coast by Thursday which sets up a brief overrunning slushfall on Friday morning.
