21.4 mm so far and it’s really coming down out there.
It's called clown range for a reason.

:dunno:
Cold rain in my opinion 😕

Mine, too. -6˚C at the 850 mbar level usually makes for slushy rain in the lowlands.

Usually takes -7 or colder to get snow.

Sucks. Cause west coast weather make you love the snow but being out east I promise you the -25 windchill blowing snow is the worst thing you felt

Another set of putrid 00z runs if you want lowland snow. Just can't buy enough jet suppression.

Does look like we will enter a cooler onshore flow pattern later in the week and those can be fun this time of the year if things line up just right, but nothing regional or widespread. Oh well.

For Christmas week? Probably.

For the rest of winter? It's Dec 14th. A long way to go.

Yeah, at this point the mid and long range look more akin to the patterns we saw at the same time of the month in 2012, 2015, or 2017. Very good snows for the mountains, but marginal chances for lower elevations with plenty of cold rain.

It's a good thing cold rain is my second favourite type of weather, followed by cool rain, warm rain and just rain. :raindrip:

In other news, that cold air reservoir that's been bottled up in the Yukon, NWT, and northern BC/AB over the past couple weeks looks like it won't be going anywhere in a hurry. This could realistically end up being one of the coldest Decembers on record for many locales in that region.

You'd think eventually the dam will break and that will surge south to our region with the right setup, but that doesn't seem likely at this point. Forecast to gradually sag south this week and the closest it will get to us is the interior banking up against the coastal mountains (Kamloops, Clinton, etc) as the longwave trough digs too far SW over the ocean and doesn't phase with the arctic air to force it through the gaps and inlets.
