SW winds don't typically affect this area luckily, as we're sheltered by the central Coquitlam hill.

We get hit hard when the winds come out of the SE, like yesterday morning.

Modified arctic air has pushed out to the north and central coasts as well. Prince Rupert and Bella Coola will be very snowy over the next week! :alert: :flakey:

Unfortunately, I'm really starting to think this winter will end up a dud. Seems to be a rinse and repeat cycle of the block getting cut off by a piece of energy diving down north of Alaska. While things could change come January or February, as of now the model trends don't look encouraging. :x

Grouse is opening tomorrow and Cypress and Murray Ridge are opening on Saturday so I am planning to ski Cypress on Saturday and Murray Ridge later in the week when it isn't below -20c.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

-NAO signal there. Haven't seen that so far this winter. Hmmm. North Pacific ridge still looks to be a touch too far west, but overall it's a better look than what we've seen thus far.

Is -NAO a common precursor for us? Because yeah to my eye it just looks the same with the NPAC ridge not amplifying eastward and forcing that cold air down on us. I do figure that as exhausting as this is waiting for it, it HAS to shove south at some point. All the other ingredients are in place.

The thing I do expect to happen is when we finally do get the real deal here, it'll last 3-4 days like a Jan 2020 or 2012 before it falls apart and completely resets.
