BC Storms Community Update: Supporting Our Forum & New Services

Post by stuffradio »

Hi everyone,
I've been brainstorming ways to support the ongoing maintenance of our forum and fund future improvements. After careful consideration, I'd like to share two exciting initiatives:

BC Storms Merchandise
Represent our community with exclusive BC Storms gear! Each purchase provides direct support to the forum while giving you quality items featuring:

The official BC Storms logo
Unique local weather designs ("King Tide," "Pineapple Express," etc.)
Various products including mugs, shirts, and more

Hyper-Local Weather Service
Get precision forecasts based on your exact coordinates rather than the nearest city or airport:
Basic Package ($6/month)

Customized 3-day forecasts for your specific location
Bi-weekly alert notifications (twice per week)

Premium Package ($10-12/month)

Everything in the Basic package
Monthly/seasonal forecast outlooks
Additional customization options

These initiatives would help ensure BC Storms remains a valuable resource while providing you with useful services and products.
What do you think? Would either of these options interest you? Any feedback or suggestions are welcome!

Sounds exciting 😀 Stuffed man will definitely grab some merch. Geesh customized forecasts would put E L Nutso out of work. perhaps not he'll find other ways to pineapple us to death.

I think it is a neat idea. However, personally, I would rather just donate a yearly amount towards hosting costs.

📣 Big News: BC Storms is Upgrading to AWS Lightsail!

Hey everyone!

I’m excited to share that BC Storms is finally moving to a new and improved hosting platform — AWS Lightsail! This upgrade means a more secure home for our growing weather community, not to mention Faster forum performance – even when storms are blowing up the radar and our site is hotter than Dwight’s beet farm in July!

As our forum continues to expand, so do the technical needs — and AWS Lightsail gives us the power and flexibility to support that growth. Whether you’re tracking a thunderstorm in real time or sharing your latest storm photos, your experience here is about to get even better.

If you’ve found value in BC Storms and would like to help with the ongoing cost of hosting and upgrades, donations are welcome and deeply appreciated.

You can send an e-transfer to:
📩 carl@wuensche.ca

Every contribution helps cover the cost of keeping this forum strong and storm-ready. Thank you for being part of this incredible community!

Stay safe and keep your eyes on the skies!

Stay stormy, my friends.

Curious about an update on this? Also, it would be really nice to be able to post tweets again.

Hi Bono,
Thank you very much. I will be working on it this next week (possibly even tonight/tomorrow).
