WEAK blueline. Missing mobility and puck skills. Shaefer, Bouchard, Chyrchrun would all be upgrades. Sanheim, Harley and Parayko are slow, 2nd pair guys.

Binnington saved our asses like 4N.

Needed Scheifele as part of the offensive core as well. Agree with your thoughts on the defence, although I do think Bouchard is a defensive liability. Overall we have a stacked offence that also saved the team, along with Binnington's big game ability to make clutch saves at the right time.

Agreed that Bouchard is a defensive liability but so are these other guys, like Parayko was kind of meh at the 4N and once again he's just not the right guy for this style of game. NHL is a different game when it grinds on for 82 games, lots of smaller speed and skill guys just wear down. However in International you get that one game elimination and it seems like these kinds of grind it out guys lose that effectiveness.

Bouchard has shown to be clutch in so many moments and has chemistry with Mcdavid. Trust me it would be stressful having him out there but no less than these other dudes who don't offer any offense either.

Binnington is just cold as ice. He's clearly given up on this NHL season fully knowing he could dial it in on a moment's notice. Interesting player and interesting dude.

As an Oilers fan, I am biased obviously, but when you pair Bouchard with a defensively responsible partner, he is very dynamic.

This will go down in history as one of the saddest days ever in Canadian sports. :(

Sid couldn't play and looked shattered and close to tears after...

Italy just lost the European playoff to Bosnia, so Canada's group for the World Cup has now been finalized:

Canada
Switzerland
Qatar
Bosnia

Opener will be on June 12th against Bosnia. Canada currently has seven injuries to starting players; if they are not back by the time the World Cup begins, we can pretty much kiss goodbye to any hopes of progressing out of the group.
