We want to see +AO, +NAO, -EPO and -PNA for cold air in BC?
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

-EPO and -PNA are heavily favoured. The other 2 can be hit or miss for us. For example. January 1969 had a massive -NAO block. Where January 1950 had little NAO blocking

I wonder if they know that the snow level there is irrelevant to the rest of the coast. It snows there pretty much all winter.

Friday looks interesting especially for areas where the cold air dams against the mountains, in southerly flow. Snow levels often end up lower than models think when the systems drop in from the NW. Still, it’s very borderline.

Seeing a sharply colder trend within 200 hours seems like huge news, so  Hopefully that longer term deeper cold is not just noise!
