Joe Bastardi is in a bad mood because he thinks there should be a west coast ridge with the blob in place. :dunno:

Came down from Cypress. Flurries all morning but intensified as we were leaving. Was flurries down to 600m then sprinkles at the first lookout. Dry as hell on the Upper Levels. Weird to see this front being shredded before reaching the Lower Mainland without dry air in place.

Yeah the ECMWF sucks. Looks like a baroclinic/AR event aimed towards Southern BC that would be very slow moving with that 500mb setup.

But just shift that ridge and trough SE a bit and the arctic air would drop into our region.

yeah this is a weird setup. Seems more like something you'd see with dry air in place like last February.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Unfortunately my winter forecast was wrong I am sorry, thinking more like the middle to end of January is our time to shine.
The blob is more influential than I anticipated. Also global warming played a part. #gretaWasRight.
