Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
A good example is February 2017. Low elevation snows were epic that month but the event was short lived. Only lasted a few days and then it warmed up and all the snow melted.

I remember that kind, but I saved my pennies and got myself a Trade Winds one with the rotating cups.
It's called clown range for a reason.

I feel the same way. If any more snow, hope it happens no later than mid Feb. Psychologically late Feb belongs to spring or at least getting ready for spring. Just don't have the mood for any slush fest or even short lived snow after then.Weather101 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 11:40 am I think winter is over besides maybe a slush fest that's just my opinion tho. Never been a big fan of mid February snow it usually melts right away in the sun and harder to get temperatures as cold as you can in December or January.

Actually Amazon has the complete station I haven't read the reviews yet, it does have solar for batteries as well as UV solar radiation readings.Radar wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:03 pm I saw that and thought interesting. But would it draw down on power? Thought if it’s wireless it would kill the batteries without sunlight.
Sunlight is that thing that is bright in the sky. We haven’t seen it for a while in case some of you forgot what it was.

I had one given to me when I was in grade 7 the wind vane was metal back then, you had to go outside to see the wind direction lol! the liquid for the gauge was red dye or something I had a hell of a time trying to find it. I finally found a marine store that sold it as well as other pricey weather stuff for nautical like a brass barometer for like 200 bucks that was a lot back in 1972.

It was a red dyed glycerine compound- and the place to plug the hose into the sensor kept breakingSardisbcwx wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 3:42 pm I had one given to me when I was in grade 7 the wind vane was metal back then, you had to go outside to see the wind direction lol! the liquid for the gauge was red dye or something I had a hell of a time trying to find it. I used to get my stuff, including a stevenson screen that is now on life support, from a place called Frederick Goertz on lower Yates st. in Victoria. Now we have digital sensor suites that do all the stuff that I used to have to buy piece by piece

I wonder how long it will be before snow wizard on the American forums starts shouting "epic potential!" and 1989 comes up as analogs.

In Canada? Never.
By the way, the temperature has swung a lot today in Puntzi Mountain!
