My rain stats are gonna be messed up with ice clogged rain gauges this month. But I’m sure we just passed 10” for January here.

Seems legit. North Coquitlam is up to 339.8mm for the month.

well we've got a rain warning here. 2 observations-it's snowing like hell above 3500 ft which is great, but when the temps rise overnight, all that melt and rain, if timed right with an rising tide? well, things could get interesting along Englishman River (indeed all rivers in the warning zone)

And some people here were worried about the lack of rain, well there you have it, enjoy the rain because it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Little to no blocking the next 3 weeks. Every model is showing nothing remotely close to "arctic." Typical +PNA and +EPO doldrums. Historically a colder Alaska associated with a strong PV and AK vortex will lead to a Feb/March cold period in NA. Do not see any stratospheric warming this winter though...However, seasonal changes with additional warmth in the lower troposphere can be the trigger that dislodges that PV.

My bet is we still see a mid to late Feb coast to coast cold period. This should be a given as we enter late winter and spring. We may see more of a Maritime Polar influenced cold on the West Coast with the lack of any extreme blocking.

Locals sure. They always suck these days anyways. Interior mountains should keep adding to a fairly healthy snowpack.

My worry is the freeze-thaw cycle that builds up a very unstable layer of snow along slopes.

Good news is I now have lake front property. Had to shovel the rain into the drain.

My summer project will include bettering my backyard drainage...

It doesn't look like it's all bad news for the North Shore mountains. The 18z GFS shows M-F next week as being fairly cool with moisture. This weekend freezing levels should be around the ski area bases.
