In the mean time, if the heavy rain warning come to fruition, we could be in deep manure on Saturday with a forecast high of 14c. That's a lot of snow that has fallen in the last week, including today which will come down the rivers. If by happenstance the cresting of the river here occurs with a high tide- well, one can fly fish from the comfort of their own car.

Warnings
4:08 PM PST Thursday 30 January 2020
Rainfall warning in effect for:

Fraser Valley - central including Chilliwack
Fraser Valley - east including Hope
Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

An intense low pressure system with subtropical moisture will bring heavy rain to the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Gibsons and parts of Metro Vancouver tonight through to Saturday.

The warm front associated with this system will move through the area tonight bringing rain, at times heavy. For Metro Vancouver, Bowen Island and Gibsons, there will be a break Friday afternoon as the warm front lifts north towards Squamish.

The cold front associated with this system will return Friday night with another round of heavy rain that will last through to Saturday midday.

Total rainfall amounts for these events will be near 60 to 120 mm for the Fraser Valley, 130 mm for Howe Sound, 80 mm for Gibsons and up to 100 mm for parts of Metro Vancouver.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
