The 00z GEFS continues the trend of a retrograding high into the NPAC and troughing over western North America.

So the weeklies for the longest time predicted a prolonged period of -PNA, the GEFS did the same and the CFS often spat out extreme and elongated cold solutions for our side of the continent. Is that just now coming into view? Surely this level of consistency couldn't just be a complete mirage. FWIW the GEFS extended is once again spectacular for Western North America for an extended period of time. The period of January 25 or so Feb 5-10 could very well be a fun time.

There will be inevitable model swaying and rug pulls but I'm firmly believing in that period of time as something that could produce the goods for us. And if it doesn't, oh well next year or next month. But I can't deny the persistence of what these ensembles are showing in the somewhat believable range.

Day 10-16
Day 10-16 GEPS

Better blocking to our NW than the GEFS.

Right as NHL is starting, we can track a potential arctic outbreak. These are the kinds of hobbies I need more than ever as I may be confined to mostly inside once doggy comes home (looking like mid to late january now).

In the meantime, enjoy the pineapples NITO because they're about to go rotten.

Don't let John jinx it. These trends only started almost to the day he cancelled winter.
